Summer weather here, now relaxing at Carol and Russell's house after two very long flights which were surprisingly bearable.
NZ's bio security measures are pretty impressive - no plants or food stuffs allowed into the country - and all baggage is x rayed on arrival, with sniffer dogs in attendance for extra checks.
Auckland in a beautiful setting by the sea with volcanic mountains all around. It is a city of suburbs, all leading down to beaches. It is by far the biggest city in NZ and the goverment is trying to persuade people, maybe with cash handouts, to move out, as population elsewhere is shrinking and there is lots of unused housing.
